The Empire period was of course denoted by Napolean's rule of France and much of other parts of Europe. Defined as a Neoclassical style, with very much a return to forms prevalent in roman times. The Arc de Triomphe in Paris is the best known piece of Empire architecture.
Typical of Empire this piece is defined by strong vertical lines and the pedimented columns which are of course hand carved and turned. These flank two hand rolled glazed doors, with weathered brass decorative lock, set over 4 drawers. These also with weathered and hand made brass loop handles.
A stylish addition to any drawing room or hall. Show in either of these locations or of course, in the library as an excellent enclosing bookcase for the more valuable antiquary you may have.
