This stylish Single Empire Display Case is shown in walnut distressed with a walnut interior. This finish is created with our skillfully hand applied cat o' nine tails thrashing, rich colouring and the application of the finest Japanese "Nippon" lacquers is a 13 step process, takng over a week to achieve the depth and richness shown here.
The Empire period was of course denoted by Napolean's rule of France and much of other parts of Europe. Defined as a Neoclassical style, with very much a return to forms prevalent in roman times. The Arc de Triomphe in Paris is the best known piece of Empire architecture.
Typical of Empire this piece is defined by strong vertical lines and the pedimented columns which, are of course hand carved and turned. These flank a single hand rolled glazed door, with weathered brass decorative lock, set over 4 drawers. These also with weathered and hand forged brass loop handles on decorative plates.
A stylish addition to any drawing room or hall. Show in either of these locations or of course, in the library as an excellent enclosing bookcase for the more valuable antiquary you may have. All mounted on bracket feet, characteristic of the period.
